The Body Of Christ Edifies And Build One Another

Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies” (1 corinthians 8:1). Instead we can focus on our strengths and the purpose to which we have been called.

KJV 511Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify

One of the purposes of the apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers is given in verse 12 “for the edifying of the body of christ.” paul goes on to say that when we come to the unity of the faith, no longer tossed to and fro, and are speaking the truth in love, verse 16 says “causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.”

The body of christ edifies and build one another. It includes any activity that results in more christlikeness, either in oneself or in another believer. Peter (who uses the same) may have adopted from his brother apostle. The same greek word translated “edification” is used elsewhere in the scripture to describe the construction of a house.

“therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing” (1 thessalonians 5:11). We all have knowledge (or, at least we think we do) but such does not build up the body of christ. God has the power to turn every evil act into an opportunity to reveal his grace, mercy, and strength to those who call on him.

Love one another as i have loved you (john 15:12). There are many ways that we can edify our fellow believers. Edification is more than just encouragement;

Paul uses frequently in his later writings, and which st. Too many professing christianity actually tear down the body of christ with their knowledge instead of building it up with the love god demands. We know that we all have knowledge.

“since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to exercise them accordingly: 2.the motive to edify our brethren. Within the body of christ will arise issues that are deemed doctrinal by some and opinion by others.

Recognizing that we are one in christ, we are called to make up one body and the body depends on us to function as we were designed is an amazing thing. We have not formed the habit of defining gifts in terms of christ, the head of the body, and his present work from heaven in our midst. By showing god’s love, by speaking words that build believing, or by properly operating the worship manifestations in a fellowship, we can build up the body of christ every day.

Its purpose is to edify. The bible speaks to us living in community with one another, and that we are different members of the same body as we make up the church, all working together (ephesians 4:16). Let’s continue to edify, to build up, one another and help each other grow spiritually.

4 “he who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who [expounds scripture] edifies the church.” the church with an edification construct operates in a mature way. Paul makes it clear that spiritual gifts are given in christ; Considering the conscience of your brother.

People are daring one another to do everything from pouring a bucket of ice over themselves to eating a lot of spicy food quickly. And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the son of god, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. That being said, we need to build each other up as the church within a world and culture that is naturally bent against it.

And all for your upbuilding, beloved.” by speaking forth glad tidings to one another, we cannot help but build up one another! The parts of christ’s body need each other, just as the eye needs the hand and the hand needs the eye. When we live in isolation from one another, just attending church but not getting involved, the entire church suffers.

The point is that it doesn’t stop there. Individually, one can edify oneself by participating in the various spiritual disciplines (bible intake, private prayer, private worship, etc). The object of why the body should build itself into an edification construct is found in 1 corinthians 14:

You are taught of god to love one another (1thessalonians 4:9). Ii.it carries the meaning of growth for the whole body of christ. Thousands of years before the internet was even invented, god launched the “edification challenge.” god’s word exhorts believers to edify, or build up, one another spiritually.

Edification may be individual or corporate. But speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into him who is the head, even christ, from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love. Edify with our love “now concerning things offered to idols:

Parents, you are responsible to apply god’s word to your children’s lives. The apostle paul, in rom. A.besides it being a command to edify one another, which alone ought to

Let the building process begin! As the body of christ, we have the responsibility to edify our leaders and church by respecting and obeying the word of god as taught in authority. 12:19 paul points out that he spent his time “speaking in christ:

Promote peace with one another — “so then let us pursue the things which make for peace and the building up of one another” (rom. In a healthy church there is a continual work of building up: The church as the “body” receives its instructions from the “head,” who is christ.

This is how god designed us to serve the body, by merely playing to the strengths for which he created us, and by using our natural talents and aptitudes to bring fullness to the many. Now turning to the positive side, the most obvious one another in the scripture is love one another. This is the end, so far as the body itself is concerned, though, of course, the completed spiritual body, like the completed natural body, has work to do outside itself.

This metaphor of building is one which st. In this we are unscriptural. An understandable version for the purpose of equipping the saints [i.e., god's holy people] for the work of serving [others], in order to build up the [spiritual] body of christ [i.e., the church].

We must press our way towards the hope of christ at every opportunity. G.so when we see this word edify, or some form of it, we need to understand it means building up or strengthening one another or the whole body of christ. [and he did this] to fully equip and perfect the saints (god’s people) for works of service, to build up the body of christ [the church];

This realization will free us from trying to be all things to all people. The holy spirit gifts believers with different supernatural abilities to serve christ and one another. Knowledge puffs up but love edifies.

The word edification is actually a metaphor. They are enrichments from christ.
